Sidmouth’s Coast tells the story
of the tumbling cliffs, shifting beaches and flooding coasts which are not new to Sidmouth: records go back centuries, but questions remain.
What causes these events, how old are they, how can we manage them and will they become more frequent in the future? Do we want to prevent cliff collapse and beach removal, or should we let nature run its course? And are there any unintended effects of recent engineering works, such as the rock islands and groynes?
Sidmouth's Coast includes coloured diagrams, photographs and illustrations from the Museum Archives.
